A WBIR article titled "How to use Tennessee's Online COVID-19 Vaccine Portal
" describes all the steps people must follow to book a vaccine appointment online. On top of ensuring a simple process for people unfamiliar with online communications, Tennessee's online COVID-19 vaccine portal also provides up-to-date information about vaccine distribution throughout all parts of the state.
You can schedule an appointment by visiting Tennessee's Online COVID-19 Vaccine Portal
from either your personal computer or smartphone.
After users click on "Vaccine Eligibility", the portal will display a Tennessee map, and users will select their county of residence. They will be asked a series of questions, including age, workplace, and current health conditions. After doing so, the portal will indicate which phase they pertain to and finish off by providing a phone number and email address to complete the process.
Some steps of the process might differ from county to county. The Knox County Health Department is scheduling their own appointments, but since there is high demand, appointments fill up almost instantly, resulting in low vaccine supply. The Director of Knox County Health Department, Dr. Martha Buchannan, has expressed concern because although they receive shipments weekly, they don't exactly know how much they'll receive.
